Cheesy Crockpot Mexican Chicken

Contention appears in a number of ways including opposing, nagging, arguing, challenging, belittling, and competing. And why do we do it? Because somehow we think that by nagging him we’re encouraging our husbands to be a better person.
It seems to makes sense at the time, but the truth is that many of our husbands–and many wives for that matter–have fragile egos that should be handled with care and respect.
In the same way that a leaky faucet can cause permanent damage, our words if left unchecked can damage our relationships and cause cause resentment to grow. I can’t imagine what the state of my kitchen would be if we let that faucet leak for 10 years, but in some marriages that’s what’s happening. Sometimes the damage appears surmountable. Giving up–they walk away.
If this problem is going on in our marriage, we need to get in there and immediately start to make changes that work to build up our husbands rather than tearing them down. Certainly it takes the work of two people to form a strong marriage bond, butmy advice to you is that we concentrate on our share of the work and leave them to do theirs.

I decided to attempt dessert the other night by searching around the fridge for things and it was the weekend and time to go grocery shopping so we didn’t have a whole lot to work with… I got crafty and came up with a simple yet delicious treat that my boys have now asked me for every single day this week… INCLUDING MY HUSBAND!! Needless to say, it was a winner and I’ll be making them again today! They are nothing fancy or pretty, but they are a delight!
Laura’s Apple Crescents
1 can of crescent rolls
1 large apple (any kind you have)
Grab two triangles of the crescent rolls and smoosh the dotted lines together to form into one rectangular crescent.
Do this until you have used them all forming four total rectangles.
Dice up your apple into small pieces and distribute them evenly into the center of each crescent rectangle.
I already have a container of cinnamon and sugar mixed so I sprinkled it on top of each pile of apples and then added a dash of just cinnamon on top of that.
Next I cut a slice of butter and put it on top of the apple and pinched the corners and top together so all of the goodness is tucked inside
Place on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10-15, depending on your oven!
I made this delicious treat for dinner on Tuesday night and it was a HUGE hit!! It’s obviously a breakfast or a brunch dish but we love breakfast for dinner in our family so instead of putting it together in the evening and let it sit in the fridge all night, I put it together in the morning before work and voila, it was ready to pop in the oven to bake when I got home! Next time I think I’m going to make a delicious bananas foster sauce to pour over it (per my hubby’s request) So here you go… You’re welcome in advance!! ‘Overnight’ Baked French Toast
Butter for greasing the baking dish
4 cups of milk
6 large eggs
2 tablespoons maple syrup, plus more for serving
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 large loaf challah bread
Grease a 13×9 inch baking dish with butter
Place milk, eggs, sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl and whisk to mix well. Set milk mixture aside.
Arrange half of the slices of bread in the prepared baking dish, cutting the bread so that it fits in a solid layer. Pour half of the milk mixture over the bread.
repeat, creating a second layer of bread and then pouring the rest of the milk mixture on top. Lightly press the bread down into the liquid.
Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (8-12 hours)
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees
Uncover the baking dish and bake the french toast (uncovered) until it is puffed and golden, 30-35 minutes.
Let it sit for 5 minutes to firm up and then cut into squares and serve hot with maple syrup, fresh fruit, and/or confectioners sugar.
