The Story Of The Daffodil Garden

daffodilgarden3

You may have heard the story of the daffodils in one form or another, and how the beauty of the garden holds a lesson to be learned. It’s definitely worth repeating–let me tell it to you my way…

In 1958, (Alma) Gene and Dale Bauer started planting a garden of daffodils, planting them one by one by one… throughout the years. Today the daffodil garden in Running Springs, California is said to be the largest daffodil garden in the world. One look at the magnificent hillside immediately draws you in.

This mountain hillside, which was once a wilderness of poor rocky soil is now drenched with daffodils. A breath-taking experience to the tourists it draws.

The countless daffodils reflect care, as stewards of God’s creation, labor in the land they’ve been given. Man and woman, side by side. But the unmistakable miracle we see—made by the hands of only two—is that perseverance yields fruit to those who are trained by it.

Gene Bauer planted the first 48 bulbs in 1958, describing her persistence by saying, “One at a time, by one woman. Two hands, two feet and a body minus a brain.” In forty years she’s planted close to a million bulbs!

The daffodil garden illustrates the God given potential that each one of us holds when we plant seeds one by one. Seeds of discipline, love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control—seeds that will blossom in our garden one day, a breath-taking garden that draws others to Christ.

In 1988, my husband and I planted a garden when we stood at the alter, saying, “I do.”

It’s been 24 years of planting one bulb at a time. Nothing too big, just one bloom here and there among countless flowers.

One prayer at a time, one day at a time, one understanding and patient moment at a time… precious blooms  in the garden of marriage.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. ~ Galatians 6:9

Looking Ahead

Looking Ahead

With all the changes in my life,

I ask you Lord, for peace.

Keep me steady on the path

And sure upon my feet,

Let me learn from my mistakes

And grow beneath your wings.

Prepare me for the days ahead

And all that life will bring.

For in the darkness, You are light,

In weakness you are strong.

I am nothing without you -

I know where I belong.

Fun Ombre’s

Fun Ombre's

Love this trend and I’m inspired by the colors and the artistic creations the colorists came up with here…  They are all so unique and beautiful in their own ways!  I would never have purple hair but I absolutely love that one…  The rich deep purple color is stunning and I love the lavender on the bottom!!  So pretty!
And her hair is gorgeous to begin with!  :)

My Skincare Routine

origins

Recently I’ve gotten some questions on my skincare routine
(thank you for all of the sweet compliments on my skin) and to answer the questions…
First off I use all Origins Skincare.  It’s amazing and I’ve used it since I was 15 years old & swear by it.
Second, I wash and moisturize my face and neck twice daily
(never missing a night…  I NEVER leave ANY makeup on when I go to bed no matter how tired I am)
Third, I wash with cleanser, then use A Perfect World toner,
followed by the serum and then my daily moisturizer or night moisturizer.
(I also use an eye cream at night as well as the GinZing eye cream in the am)
I LOVE the entire line of skincare products and I recommend them all highly! :)

Ask Anything: Answers

ask anything

For the Ask Anything post I did back on July 22nd I answered 10 Questions from y’all and the answers are below…

1. What is your biggest prayer in life?
My biggest prayer in life is that my children will continue to grow in their walk with the Lord and grow up knowing the truth, and daily walking with the Lord.  I want them to serve Christ and others as Jesus did.  I want to die knowing that I will one day see my kids in heaven someday!

2. Cake or ice cream?
Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Cake from Baskins!  LOL

3. What is your favorite food blog?
Gosh this is tough because I have so many I adore but here is a list of a few I visit daily…
Picky Palate
Mix & Match Mama
Comfy In The Kitchen
Six Sisters Stuff
Chelsea’s Culinary Indulgence

4. What mascara do you use?
For everyday use I use Loreal Voluminous mascara in Blackest Black…  It really lengthens my lashes!

5. What does Jesus Mean to you in one word?
EVERYTHING

6. What is your signature recipe?
My Nonna’s homemade bolognese spaghetti sauce…  It’s a delicious secret recipe.  :)

7. Do you have any pets?

9. What bible do you read?

Fashion Friday

modest swim

Since the weather has been so incredibly amazing here and we’ve been spending so much time in the sun, and water, I figured I would post some of my favorite bathing suits I’ve found this summer!  Modest is hottest and I feel that you don’t have to flaunt a rockin bikini to look good this summer.  :) And I also feel that some things should be left to the imagination (and for our husbands eyes only) and we as ladies need to be careful about how much we show and how it affects our brothers in Christ…  Or any man out there for that matter.  It’s a huge struggle for a lot of men and I think it’s best not to make the problem/temptation worse for them…  Beauty is so much more than the way we dress and we don’t need any negative attention…  We ladies need to find that attention from our husbands and our Heavenly Father above all.  He is our true source of light, of abundant life, and joy~ The Author and Finisher of our faith.  :) I know that is a whole other blog post but I wanted to explain why I’m only posting one-piece suits.

Which is your favorite bathing suit…  1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8?  :)
